Family Life Education is an educational activity occuring outside a traditional classroom setting; usually involving adults that is designed to strengthen relationships in the home and foster positive individual lives (Duncan and Gottard).
The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) provides certification for the profession of family life education. The Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) program encourages applications from professionals with preparation and experience in family life education who have a minimum of a bachelor's degree. A provisional certification is available to those who have completed the education portion required, and to become fully certified one is required to complete an additon 3200 hours working as a family life educator.
